³Ô¹ÏÍø Handball: Competing at U.S. Nationals

³Ô¹ÏÍø of Engineering is sending its second-year handball team to compete at the Handball College Nationals hosted at James Madison University and needs YOUR support!

³Ô¹ÏÍø Handball Team 2024
We are so excited to compete nationally again this year!

Due to ³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s small size, competing in a national collegiate tournament is groundbreaking for ³Ô¹ÏÍø.

Last year, we took home two wins—incredible for a rookie team. This year, we are building upon our success and pushing to place higher. We are determined to improve, not only by training every week but also by commuting to other teams' practices. Due to our small population, we are the only collegiate Co-Ed team, making history last year with the first female playing in the men's collegiate division. Valuing the inclusive nature of ³Ô¹ÏÍø, we encourage players of all backgrounds to play.

We hope to continue participating, but we need your help.

Please consider any matching donations your company might offer to non-profit organizations. All funds directly support players' safety, preparation, transportation, lodging, and registration for the tournament. We need all the help we can get to provide this opportunity to ³Ô¹ÏÍøers and help us travel to JMU (in Virginia)!

³Ô¹ÏÍøers who competed in nationals last year described the experience as "some of the best memories [they] have from ³Ô¹ÏÍø," "one of the coolest experiences [they] have ever had," and "one of the coolest things ³Ô¹ÏÍø has to offer us."

Some background on Handball:

Similar to water polo on land, Handball has lots of passing, physicality, and shooting a ball into a net. Each team gets one goalie and six court players. Played on a court slightly larger than a basketball court, players work together to shoot into a net (about futsal size) placed at either end. Court players must stay outside of the "crease," which is almost identical to the placement of a 3-point line. On defense, players can [safely] wrap and push the offense to prevent goals. Handball is incredibly fast-paced, with two 30-minute halves. Scores in the professional league range around 25-35 points per team per game. Each goal counts as one.

We are so excited to compete nationally again this year and look forward to receiving your support!
